Jenny Thompson

I have lived and worked in South West Wales for the last thirty years and have brought up my family here. I go back to London to visit friends and family, and although I love my trips to the city, am always glad to return to the beauty and sense of community that is my home.

I am passionate about my work - it is deeply rewarding to connect with somebody as they discover their own internal wisdom and ability to move forward in their lives. My original training in gestalt psychotherapy emphasises relationship and awareness as well as the importance of remembering to see us humans as whole beings: mind, body, heart and spirit. I try to take this knowing into all aspects of my work and play. I have discovered for myself that mindfulness based practices can been hugely helpful, and these practices are cornerstones of my own life. I have trained in Internal Family Systems Therapy and this brings together many different strands of my work.

I have worked with people in distress since completing my BA in Psychology in 1979. Settings include, mental health organisations, drugs agencies, the higher education sector, GP’s practices, voluntary organisations as well as private work. I have also lectured on BACP recognised counselling diploma and managed a Higher Education Wellbeing Service.

Karen Wilson

I live and work in the county of Carmarthenshire where I enjoy the unique beauty of the surrounding countryside and beaches.

I originally trained as a mental health nurse in the late 1980’s, specialising in group work in therapeutic day services. My training was humanistic and person-centred, and I was encouraged to listen carefully to the people I was working with and to trust their wisdom about their experience, rather than defining them by a diagnosis.

From 2009 I trained as an integrative counsellor and I am now registered and accredited with the BACP. In 2019 I qualified as a Sesame Practitioner. My approach to my clients is compassionate and mindful. I have training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, Cognitive Based Trauma Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy and facilitating The Work That Reconnects. I worked for the NHS for many years, for Social Services and since 2012 in higher education.

Over the years I have been honoured to accompany many people on a small part of their life’s journey and have been inspired by the courage, tenacity, and wisdom of those I have worked alongside.

I am nourished and supported by my insight meditation practice, my relationship with plants and animals and my practice of self-expression through movement and dance. I love to sing and take part in ritual and celebration, and I am engaged in a number of local community projects.
